The Wrench

He’s leaving in less than one month.

I just got the call today.

Everything is still amazing, and this is his dream opportunity. He’s being sent to the police academy for special training for 12 weeks. He passed his power test, which was such an impossibly hard test. I’m insanely proud of him, and wouldn’t let him pass this up for the world.

It’s just…he’s leaving.

It is a residential program, far away. He will be able to come home on the weekends. We will be able to talk every night.

We’ve got this.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Right?

  1. Aw Aimee! That must be so hard but you’re right, absence does make the heart grow fonder and you two will make it through just fine and then it will be over and you’ll be married!

  2. That’s just a small wrench, Aimee. A teeny, tiny wrench. (LOVE that title.) Absence does make the heart grow fonder, it’s true.

Congrats to him, by the way! What a great accomplishment!

  3. Great title…and such feeling in your words. I can sense how proud and supportive you are…and yet the deepness in feeling he will be gone for twelve weeks. Yes, you can phone, Skype…whatever…it is not the same as having him next to you. But twelve weeks will go by and your reunion will be wonderful.
